Greener Energy

At Green Installer we take a pragmatic view of green issues. We recognise that the financial, emotional and practical issues of moving to a green lifestyle can't always be overcome at once. So does that mean that we should do nothing? Far from it. "Greener Energy" is about everyone taking sensible steps towards a more environmentally friendly, energy efficient future - and doing it now!

If you are in a position to replace or supplement your energy requirements through the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind turbine, then that's great. If you're not then that doesn't mean there is nothing you can do. All of us can lower our own carbon footprint by reducing the amount of energy we use and making sure that we use it efficiently. Using energy more efficiently is what we call "Greener Energy"

Heat Your Home Not the Planet

If your central heating boiler is more than 10 years old then chances are that it operates at between 60 to 70% efficiency. That means that 30-40% of the energy you pay for ends up heating your garden rather than your home. By contrast a modern central heating boiler is much greener - operating at up to 95% efficiency, burning up to 40% less fuel with 40% lower emissions and a 40% lower fuel bill!

Combine this with improvements in insulation ( a quarter of homes in the UK fail to meet even basic insulation standards) and a few subtle changes in lifestyle (such as putting on a jumper instead of turning up the heating) and you will be well on your way to leading a greener life and reducing your own carbon footprint.
